The new adaptation of Stephen King’s classic novel Carrie hits theaters on Friday, as it stars Chloe Grace Moretz as the titular supernatural high school outcast, whose mother, played by Julianne Moore, and classmates drive her to a madness that leaves no one safe in her path. Oh wait, spoiler alert. Sorry about that. But chances are you’re already fully aware of King’s classic tale of a girl getting her revenge against bullies, and you’ll just see this new version to see how they incorporate things like beepers and slap bracelets and whatever else the cool kids are playing with these days.
What you may have not known is that when King wrote Carrie, he was picturing the tormented character as a strange take on Cinderella, with the mom and students playing the roles of the wicked stepmom and stepsisters. So it’s only fitting that someone took the latest Carrie trailer and mashed it up with the original Cinderella trailer. The results are eerie, to say the least.
