When we spotted the photo set above on Tumblr last week, we immediately wondered if there were more of these stories behind the GIFs. Then a tweet delivered the answer.

This weekend Reddit wholeheartedly welcomed a new subreddit, Behind The GIFs. It set a record for the most subscribers during the first day of a new subreddit. We can see why, with funny uses of popular GIFs like this:

Some of the picture sets are simple and perfect, like the ones above. Others go to great lengths for a gloriously silly payoff, like the one on the next page.
