Mickey Rooney, whose career spanned more than 90 years, died at this North Hollywood home surrounded by family on Sunday.
Rooney’s entertainment career started as a toddler, when he was included in his parents’ vaudeville act. He was in movies by age 10, and was still notching movie and TV gigs eight decades later.
The diminutive actor’s accomplishments included two Academy Awards, being the #1 box office draw from 1939 to 1942 (a run only broken by his Army stint), an Emmy, a Tony nomination, and numerous off screen conquests: he married seven more times after divorcing his first wife, Ava Gardner.
Police told the Associated Press that they took a death report but indicated that there was “nothing suspicious and it was not a police case.”
