Did Paranoid Christian Zealot Kirk Cameron Just Kind Of, Sort Of Defend Gay Marriage?

Noted Evangelical Christian and birthday party enthusiast Kirk Cameron is leading a series of marriage seminars in Alabama this month and as such, spoke with AL.com on what he thinks the biggest threat to marriage is. Spoiler alert! It’s not gay people.

I mean, he doesn’t go so far as to say it’s not not gay people, but other than that he kind of makes sense? Stop this crazy world, I want to get off.

“When people get too focused on redefining marriage, you’re distracted from the bigger problem – fornicators and adulterers,” Cameron said.

“If the people sitting in the pews are fornicators and adulterers, the church will destroy marriages much more quickly than those outside the church. When God’s people mock marriage, God doesn’t take that lightly.”

Cameron declined to criticize gay marriage and same-sex unions, saying that’s not a priority.

“I think the greatest threat to marriage is not other people’s definition of marriage,” Cameron said in a telephone interview with AL.com. “The church isn’t taking God’s definition of marriage seriously. It’s not other people sabotaging marriage that’s the problem.”

I don’t want to put words into Kirk Cameron’s mouth. He’s a gentleman and a scholar and obviously above naming names — but I’d like to think he’s 100% referring to Kim Kardashian. I just don’t see any other possible way of interpreting that.
