Marion “Suge” Knight, the co-founder of Death Row records, has turned himself into police after reportedly running over two men in his car after a fight broke out on the set of the biopic about the rap group NWA. It’s still unclear what exactly the argument was over, but as we reported earlier, a fight broke out between Knight and two unidentified crew members on the set of Straight Outta Compton around 3 p.m. yesterday. The argument allegedly began when security guards on the set of the film asked Knight to leave. About 20 minutes later, the men visited a nearby fast-food restaurant, where Suge Knight followed them and allegedly ran them over in the parking lot with his truck.

His truck was later found abandoned in a Westwood parking lot about 20 miles north of where the incident happened.

“Looks like he drove backwards and struck the victims and drove forwards and struck them again. The people we talked to say it looked like it was an intentional act,” said a Los Angeles sheriff talking to reporters. “They obviously knew each other. They got into some kind of verbal altercation and it escalated … we are handling it like a homicide.”

Knight turned himself in early this morning, according to the Associated Press.

Suge Knight has a history with violence, of course. He was in the driver’s seat in Las Vegas in 1996 when gunmen in another vehicle shot his passenger, Tupac Shakur, who died a week later. Last year, Knight was shot six times at a nightclub during a pre-awards celebration hosted by Chris Brown. Knight has also spent parts of the last two decades in prison for various assault convictions.

The victim who died was identified as Terry Carter, a friend of Suge Knight. Two other men were also injured, including Cle “Bone” Sloane, who is in the hospital. His injuries are not life threatening.
