Elderly Singles Can Now Swipe Left Or Right With Their Very Own Tinder App

What could possibly follow the story of the woman who joined Tinder as a horny ghost? Not a clue, but the innovative (and surprisingly young) folks behind the latest dating app have revealed its logical predecessor. Called Stitch, the new app is basically a Tinder for the elderly:

Like Tinder, it shows users just one profile at a time, and it alerts them to profiles where a person they’ve liked has liked them back — so they’re less likely to reach out to someone and be met with silence.

Stitch co-founder Marcie Rogo, 29, says she first became aware of the need for a site for seniors when she worked at an assisted living facility in 2010.

“Seniors aren’t the elderly babies that people stereotype,” she explains. “They’re real people with real pride, and it’s very hard to go up to someone and say, ‘Hi, I’m Lucy. I like bocce ball. Will you play bocce with me?’ And if you’ve lost your spouse, it’s really hard to meet someone new.” (Via NYP)

Since the Tinder comparison seems to be a big part of Stitch’s appeal, an important usability question remains: Will arthritic users be able to swipe left or right whenever they desire?
