Despite the fact that Lindsay Lohan has admitted that she has used cocaine and she once accused her mother, Dina, of being high on the drug during that infamous 2012 phone call to her dad, the mother-daughter duo are not cool with the implication that they’ve ever done it together. Last year, during an appearance on the Fox News program Hannity, someone named Michelle Fields shared her thoughts about the tragic heroin overdose of Philip Seymour Hoffman and what that meant for other celebrities who are generally considered “troubled” because of their endless appearances in tabloids for drug and alcohol abuse. Of the Lohan ladies, Fields bluntly said: “Lindsay Lohan’s mom is doing cocaine with her.”

Lindsay and Dina have reportedly filed a lawsuit against Fox News Channel and Sean Hannity for Fields’ careless accusation, as TMZ reports that they’re calling it “malicious innuendo.” However, Fox News has countered that the network has not only already apologized, but it even pulled Fields’ appearance from its website.

TMZ has obtained letters Fox News Channel sent to the lawyer for Lindsay and Dina, informing them an apology had been made on air, and FNC would send them a DVD of it. That letter was sent a year ago. Another letter was sent stating the segment would be removed from the network’s website.

A rep for FNC says when they sent the letters, “the Lohans did not make any demands for money, and we are surprised they are doing so now.” (Via TMZ)

Like, how surprised? Are we talking “OMG! The bank messed up and put a million dollars in my account!” or “Hey, I found a penny, cool”? Because I’m leaning toward the latter. If anything, I’m surprised it took them this long to sue, and I’m even more surprised that it’s official and not some nonsense scribbled on the inside of a carton of cigarettes.
