Watch This Suspected Thief Fail Miserably By Knocking Himself Out With His Own Brick

This would-be Irish car thief has been dubbed the “Thick With A Brick” by those involved in covering this particular case, something that’s pretty spot on once you see the security footage. In it you see the unidentified man attempting to hurl a brick through pub owner Gerry Brady’s car window, but failing instantly when the brick comes flying back to leave him in a puddle of blood.

What you don’t see in the video is the aftermath, confirmed by Brady to The Independent:

“When I saw him, he was lying there stone cold on the ground and his face was in ribbons,” said Gerry Brady, owner of the Pheasant pub in Drogheda.

“My first thought was that ‘this guy is after getting the **** knocked out of him’, while my girlfriend said it must have been a hit and run.”

Approaching the man, Gerry told Independent.ie that after a few moments of trying to help, things took a bizarre twist when the would-be robber tried to blackmail the pub owner.

“He pulled himself up and said he wanted €50 for a taxi. I said ‘Not a chance, I’ve to pay for a new window mate”, that’s when he leaned in and told me he’d burn me out of the pub.”

“I see you, I know you. I’ll burn you out. I’ll tell the gardas you beat me up. I’ll go to my solicitor,” the man told Gerry.

Really makes you feel a little better about the brick busting him in the face. Soon the threats became moot once the cops got their hands on the security footage and realized the truth behind the incident:

“When the Gardaí picked him up, he started claiming that I attacked him. He was still telling them that in the station when I came in with the footage of him getting knocked out by his own brick.”

“You should have heard the garda laughing when they saw the video. They were in stitches. Credit to them, they were straight out when we called and found the guy within minutes.”

Gawker pointed out a longer version on Brady’s YouTube page, showing the extended look at the main brick impact and the alleged thief’s previous attempts to bust into the car using smaller rocks.
