This Congresswoman Has No Idea How Angled Parking Works

This may not be the worst parking job ever, but it’s certainly in the conversation. Outside the Capitol building in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, 77-year-old congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton squeezed into a parking spot at an angle that, well… just look for yourself.

According to the Roll Call blog, Norton was running late to the House Chamber for an address by Afghan President Ashraf Ghani.

“If she parks like that she should not be a member of Congress anymore,” one mystified observer — who wisely recorded more than a minute of the automotive travesty — said as the video was being captured. The tipster said Norton rubbed the correctly positioned, red sports utility vehicle to her immediate left with her improperly angled silver sedan.

The horrific parking job supposedly took several minutes to complete. Sadly, there’s no video of that.

Yes, there are probably some of you out there who think it’s harsh to call out a septuagenarian, especially one who serves our country in congress, but then you read the statement from her office, and this is just dumb.

“After the Congresswoman parked her car, we assessed the cars on either side to see if there was any damage. We could not find any,” a Norton aide assured HOH. “But we left a note with a business card so the congresswoman could be contacted in case we missed any.”

Oh, but you “left a note.” Cool story.
