This Teenage Benedict Cumberbatch Lookalike Is An Instagram Star

A young Benedict Cumberbatch look-alike has become a hit on Instagram and earned the nickname “Teenlock.”

Last year, Chinese Sherlock fans discovered Tyler Michell, an otherwise normal 16-year-old from Norwich, Norfolk, on Instagram. At the time, he had about 15,000 followers, but that number has grown to nearly 20,000 followers on Instagram, all because he bears a striking resemblance to Academy Award-nominee Benedict Cumberbatch. Fans of the BBC series Sherlock, which Cumberbatch stars in, have even suggested that Michell could play a younger version of Sherlock, or “Teenlock”:

“It started out as a joke — my close friends and family would tease me and say I looked like Benedict Cumberbatch. I guess I look like him a little — but I really didn’t take it seriously,” he told The Telegraph. “Now people are messaging me and saying I should have won the Oscar. I get girls from Brazil saying the want to meet me in the U.K., which is crazy as I’m just a teenage boy sitting at home.”

The power of the Cumberbatch is growing stronger all the time. Not only is he getting Academy, Emmy, and Golden Globe nominations, he is inadvertently getting this 16-year-old boy a lot of attention from Brazilian girls. Nice work, Cumberbatch. Keep using those powers for good.
