This Doctor Had The Best Response To An Employer Who Requires Sick Notes From Employees

There are a myriad of reasons why it’s a bad idea to require employees to submit a doctor’s note when they are too ill to come in to work. A worker will either have to come in despite feeling under the weather, be generally unproductive and risk spreading their illness to others, or go through the hassle of sucking it up and seeing a doctor for something that in all likelihood doesn’t require medical attention and while also having to shell out for the copay. It’s bullcrap.

Doctors also know it’s bullcrap. According to the Redditor who posted this note that was written for a friend who supposedly works for a Canadian Pizza Hut, one doctor got so fed up with employer sick note policies that they seem to have a form letter pre-written in the event that a patient with a cold comes in asking for one.

Behold, Doctor Awesome’s note:

I’m positive there are better ways for Canada to waste their tax dollars. Like an Olympic-sized swimming pool full of poutine, perhaps? Just spit-balling ideas here.
