Supermodel Nicole Trunfio Breastfeeds Her Son On The Cover Of Australia’s ‘ELLE’

Australian supermodel Nicole Trunfio brought her infant son, Zion, to work with her as she posed for a 12-page fashion shoot for the June edition of Australia’s ELLE magazine, and he ended up joining her for the cover shot… while breastfeeding.

Displaying typical celebrity baby behavior, Zion got hungry while his mother changed in and out of Chanel, Prada and Miu Miu garments, so 29-year-old Trunfio, who is engaged to Grammy-winning musician Gary Clark, Jr., took a break to feed him. Photographer Georges Antoni was moved by the intimate moment and asked Trunfio to step in front of the camera.

Justine Cullen, ELLE editor-in-chief, said:

“This wasn’t a contrived situation: Zion needed a feed, Nicole gave it to him and when we saw how beautiful they looked we simply moved her onto the set.”

It should be noted that the breastfeeding cover is being sent to subscribers-only; the editorial staff selected a different image for the newsstand edition.

Trunfio addressed the image via her Instagram account and has gotten a lot of positive response:

“There is nothing more powerful and beautiful than motherhood. The last thing I want to do is be controversial, so please take this for what it is, let us #normalizebreastfeeding there is nothing worse than a mother that is judged for feeding her hungry child in public. #weareonlyhuman I’m so proud of this cover and for what it’s stands for.”

She also admits that motherhood isn’t always as glamorous as it looks and offers a sentiment of solidarity:

“I obviously don’t look like this while I am breastfeeding but this stands for all women out there, whether you breastfeed or not, we gave birth, we are women, we are mothers. Thank you to ELLE for being so bold and making such an encouraging, positive and healthy statement.”
