Your Daily Cry: Watch This Dog Reunite With Her Veteran Owner After 5 Years Apart

Before being deployed to Afghanistan five years ago, Army Major Jessica Gutierrez left her teacup poodle, Cookies Chanel, with her sister in New Mexico. Unfortunately, Cookie vanished a few years ago while Gutierrez was still serving overseas. However, the poodle strangely turned up in San Diego this week and was consequently reunited with her owner on Wednesday.

According to KMBC-TV, Kansas City, Gutierrez couldn’t be happier to be reunited with her beloved dog.

“All of her coat was black five years ago and now it’s gray,” Gutierrez said. “I actually didn’t expect her to remember me, so that was on the back of my mind, but she did.”

“I’m really, really happy right now.”

Gutierrez got her dog microchipped the day that she adopted her, which is why people in San Diego were able to connect Cookie back to her owner. It’s always nice when stories like these have happy endings, so make sure that you always have your pets microchipped.
