Big corporations are all about branding, and part of that effort includes taking over the names of arenas and buildings. So, it shouldn’t be a surprise that Comcast has finally decided to officially rename 30 Rock, also known as Rockefeller Center, in New York City to the “Comcast Building.” Via Deadline:

The name of the No. 1 cable operator, and owner of NBCUniversal, will beam from the rooftop, making it part of the Manhattan skyline. Comcast’s logo, facing the north and south, is 12 feet tall, and includes an 11-foot NBC peacock. The western front has an 18-foot high NBC Peacock. They will be lit by LED bulbs that the company says are designed to look like the neon used in previous signs on the building.

The Comcast Building is a pretty dry and boring name, but we can take solace in the fact that people won’t be calling it that anytime soon. I bet ya didn’t even know about its former corporate names; first, the RCA Building and then the GE Building. The building has resisted those corporate brandings with ease, and people actually liked those companies.
