The men in this commercial are probably living out the fantasies of many Mexican-Americans these days. The video shows two store managers at a Nissan dealership in Southern California beating a Donald Trump piñata like it was Nicky Santoro from Casino.
The Spanish language ad for Van Nuys Nissan shows the men hitting the “Trumpudo” piñata (which is an actual thing now), all while presenting the great deals they have at their location. After thoroughly thrashing the effigy, Manger Martin Cuevas says (translated from Spanish), “Here at Van Nuys Nissan, Latinos rule!”
Feeling the need to distance themselves from the commercial, Nissan released the following statement:
“We find these advertisements to be neither responsible or respectful, and we do not condone what they represent. We expect our dealers to establish advertising that is responsible and respectful and represents the best interest of the Nissan brand.”
It’s a pretty safe bet to assume that Trump will probably not be a welcomed presence in the Van Nuys area anytime soon.
