Omar Comin’: Man Allegedly Robs A Bank From His Wheelchair

Apparently your obnoxious friend who won’t stop preaching about the cultural significance of The Wire isn’t the only person to learn a thing or two from David Simon’s beloved HBO drama because police say a guy in Queens went full-Omar Little and pulled off a heist from his wheelchair.

According to police officials, 23-year-old Kelvin Dennison rolled into the Long Island City branch of Santander Bank on Monday and handed a teller a note indicating that he had a gun and wanted cash (probably because “money ain’t got no owners, only spenders“).

While the specifics of Dennison’s handicap were not immediately clear, the New York Times spoke with a gentleman outside Dennison’s supposed residence who said he remembered Dennison suffering a gunshot wound that bound him to the wheelchair:

Outside the apartment complex, a 79-year-old man who said he has known Mr. Dennison “since he was born,” said he recalled Mr. Dennison having been shot and paralyzed from the waist down, between seven and 10 years ago.

Dennison has been charged with third-degree robbery and is being held on $15,000 cash bail.
