19-year-old Agnes Hedengard hails from Sweden in an impressive way. She landed in third place in Sweden’s Next Top Model competition. She’s flat-out gorgeous. At 5-foot-11 and with a 17.5 body mass index, she lands squarely within the underweight category. Still, Agnes says she has been shunned by the fashion industry. After five years of attempting to launch a serious career, she’s forced to give up full-time modeling because she cannot make a living. Agencies tell her she’s simply “too big” to model.

Agnes met with several large brands, but they refused to book her. Instead, they tell the model with the runner’s physique (which you can see below) to “Get in shape.” In the above video, Agnes lashes out, “It’s absurd, and I hate it.” As she stands in front of a mirror, Agnes spills the stringent standards (often spoken of only in whispers) of the fashion world:

“They think this is too big. They think my butt is too big, and they think my hips are too wide. According to the modeling industry, you cannot look like this. You need to be thinner. I have been in contact with big agencies and clients that really want to work with me, but as soon as they get hold of my measurements, it’s a whole other story.”

Here are some snaps from Agnes’ Instagram page. She is clearly an astoundingly lovely girl, and it’s the fashion industry’s loss if they don’t see it that way.
