In an impressive display of public drunkenness, even for the Sunshine State, late last month a Florida man, 29-year-old Gregory Sorensen, was enjoying a night out at The Twisted Tuna bar and restaurant in Port Salerno. It could maybe be said that Sorensen was enjoying himself a little bit too much, because when he began attempting to pick fights with other patrons, security gave him the old heave-ho.

But Sorensen is clearly a man of pride and dignity, and as such, he was not about to leave quietly, as is detailed by TC Palm’s Off The Beat Blog:

“Once outside the bar Sorensen … kept trying to fight with bar security,” an affidavit states. “Sorensen eventually gave up, threw his bicycle in the water, jumped in the water himself and that’s when he swam over to Shrimper’s.”

Just to get an idea of Sorensen’s incredible journey, I took the liberty of mapping out his route, although Google Maps sadly does not provide a “swimming” option:

After arriving at Shrimper’s Grill & Raw Bar, a Shrimper’s security guard also deemed Sorensen too drunk to enter their establishment, probably by the way he was splashing around in the water “screaming at him trying to get him to fight.” The guard also determined that Sorensen was carrying a pocketknife, which he was ordered to drop before they fished him out.

Police eventually showed up and arrested Sorensen on charges of causing a disturbance in a public place and resisting an officer without violence.
