You Could Be Sleeping In The Paris Catacombs This Halloween

For all of you extreme Halloween lovers out there, Airbnb is offering a once in a lifetime contest: two lucky people will win the chance to sleep among the skulls in Paris’ catacombs on October 31st.

Lest you think that sleeping in a dark, dank tunnel with some of Paris’ long dead (six million in total) might be an uncomfortable experience, the contest organizers promise a bed, dinner, breakfast and a private concert. Spooky, and dare I say, romantic.

Airbnb paid 350,000 euros to “privatize” this part of the catacombs, reports the Guardian. And for anyone who had to wait the better part of the day under the pouring rain for a typical tour of the Catacombs, this contest seems like a way better alternative. Even if you are in the dark with all of those bones and ghosts and monsters.

To enter, contestants must tell organizers before midnight on October 20th why they’re “brave enough” sleep in the catacombs in such luxury. If you’re afraid of injury down there, amenities also include a safety card, a fire extinguisher and a first aid kit. As to the risk that you might get lost? It’s best to ask ahead about that. And bring a map.
