5 Games You Want Coming Out This Week (August 18h – 24th)

Keeping track video game releases isn’t as easy as it once was — the volume of games released each week is constantly expanding, and they’re spread over a mind-boggling array of platforms (consoles, PC, Mac, handhelds and mobile).

Well, I’m here to make things a little easier on you. Every week I’ll rattle off five games I think you should check out. These articles are not meant to be comprehensive lists of everything coming out that week — think of them as a nice rounded tasting menu. Each week I’ll try to highlight several games from different corners of the gaming landscape (handhelds, consoles, indie, PC, you name it) then finish up with a “Pick of the Week”.

Hit the jump for the five games you’re going to want to check out this week…

This Week’s Indie Game

Sir, You Are Being Hunted (PC, August 19th)

Sir, You Are Being Hunted places you on a procedurally generated island, and tasks you with you surviving while being hunted by robots. Not just any robots either — snooty, tweed-clad British robots no less. Basically, it kind of looks like Day Z with a generous helping of Doctor Who — sounds jolly good to me.

This Week’s Money Printing Machine

Disney Infinity (PC, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii & Wii U, August 18th)

Get an early look at the thing you’re almost certainly going to be buying for your kids/nieces and nephews this Christmas! Disney Infinity is basically Disney’s take on Activision’s recent Spyro games, except with characters people actually care about — buy overpriced Disney-character figurines, scan ’em in and play with them in the game! Oh, there’s also a touch of LittleBigPlanet in that players can create their own worlds and levels with the stuff they’ve purchased. So yeah, this is going to make a billion dollars. Probably several billion actually.

This Week’s Stealth Game

Splinter Cell: Blacklist (PC, Xbox 360, PS3 & Wii U, August 20th)

Splinter Cell: Blacklist looks to be somewhat of a return to basics for the Splinter Cell series. Stealth is back in a big way after the more action-based Splinter Cell: Conviction, and even more importantly, the “Spies vs. Mercs” multiplayer mode also makes a return. Time to get your sneakin’ boots on.

This Week’s Dose Of Pure Ridiculousness

Saints Row IV (PC, Xbox 360 & PS3, August 20th)

If you’re the kind of person who regularly reads Uproxx, you probably already know what the expect from this series, but just in case you don’t, the Saints Row games are what Grand Theft Auto would be if Rockstar could dislodge the “we’re serious provocative artists” stick from of their collective asses. In Saints Row IV you play as a superpowered President who has to defend America from aliens by beating them to death with their own anal probes. I probably don’t need to elaborate any further.

Pick of the Week

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified (PC, Xbox 360 & PS3, August 13th)

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified began life as an XCOM FPS almost everyone was dreading. Eventually though, the game transformed into a 3rd person tactical shooter, which takes place during the swingin’ 60s and actually looks really damn good. Come on, who doesn’t want to shotgun some alien ass as Don Draper?

Phew! And we officially have our first “too many damn good games” week of 2013. It certainly won’t be the last. Planning to grab any of the above-mentioned games? Any games you’re itching to get your hands on that I failed to mention? Hit the comments and let everyone know.
