50 Cent Ft. Snoop Dogg & Young Jeezy – “Major Distribution”

Rappers are a trip. For his latest Street King Immortal single, “Major Distribution,” Curtis enlisted two other Hip-Hop A-listers to speak on moving weight. These aren’t innuendos, either. Listen to the horn-heavy track and you’ll clearly hear 50 counting the bricks he’s trying to move, Jeezy cooking golf balls in the kitchen and Snoop boastfully saying he has pounds of smoke for anyone coast to coast on the outro.

Now, I understand this isn’t new, risque content in rap and hundreds of musicians say worse on wax daily. However, are these extremes necessary for artists at this level in their career? Their brand is pretty much cemented and bank rolls are all through the roof, meaning they have absolutely no reason to slang the pounds they desire here, let alone implicate themselves for things they’re probably embellishing. So, what gives? Are these three simply trying to stay relevant, by attempting to maintain their street cred and not growing up on their records? Or, is this what Interscope wants? After how they’ve handled all the Chief Keef promo and carelessly pushed his underage vices, Jimmy Iovine purposely pushing poison to the masses shouldn’t surprise anyone.

Whatever the reason, this will inevitably get mainstream play for the features and to boast sales for Fif’s February 26th release date. So, it will be interesting to see if the mainstream public even buys into the record, or if these guys are just shitting on their morals for monetary reasons and nothing else.
