An unidentified Vienna, Va. man, who is going by simply “D.B.” in court documents, was just awarded $500,000 in court for defamation and medical malpractice following an April 2013 colonoscopy, in which he was mercilessly ridiculed by the medical team performing the procedure. The man had brought a tape recorder to record the post-procedure instructions, fearing that he would be too woozy from the anesthesia to remember them, and accidentally forgot to turn it off and recorded the entire procedure.

What he later found on the tape was his anesthesiologist, gastroenterologist, and a medical assistant cruelly ridiculing him throughout the procedure, although most of the blows here delivered by the anesthesiologist, 42-year-old Tiffany Ingham. Medical Daily writes:

From insults about their patient’s sexuality to speculating about a light rash on his genitals being a full-blown case of syphilis or tuberculosis, the recorded excerpts of Ingham’s jabs, released by the Washington Post, are as sophomoric as they are lacking in humor. “After five minutes of talking to you in pre-op, I wanted to punch you in the face and man you up a little bit,” Ingham was recorded telling “D.B.” She even went as far as falsely recording down on his medical chart after the procedure that he suffered from hemorrhoids.

Ingham also called her patient a “retard” at one point after the medical assistant remarked that he was nervous about getting the I.V. put in, and worried that he would pass out from looking at it. As if the post-colonoscopy farts aren’t already humiliating enough. Ingham has since left the practice and moved to Florida, where her, uh, skill sets are probably much more in demand.
