A Suspected Bank Robber Ate His Poop On The Witness Stand

Andrew Gilbertson stands accused of robbing a Bank of America branch in San Luis Obispo, Calif. His legal defense strategy is to plead not guilty by reason of insanity.

Now, is eating poop a dead giveaway that there might be some validity to those claims of insanity? I’m not a legal or mental health expert, so I can’t say for certain, but it sure is a showstopper.

[Gilbertson’s] testimony ended and the judge ordered a recess when Gilbertson reached into his pants. He said the Virgin Mary told him to eat his feces.

According to KSBY, Gilbertson also alleges that the Virgin Mary told him to rob the bank.

An actual mental health expert did weigh in on the case when testimony resumed, but there is no word on if their testimony simply consisted of the witness repeatedly turning to the judge to say, “Dude, you saw what just happened, right?”
