Aaron Hernandez Found Guilty Of First-Degree Murder

Nearly two years after Aaron Hernandez was arrested and charged with the murder of Odin Lloyd, the former Patriots tight end was found guilty of first degree murder, a conviction that carries a life sentence without parole.

The jury deliberated for 36 hours over the span of a full week following closing arguments in the trial. Ultimately, the defense’s strategy of trying to convince the jury that Hernandez and Lloyd shared an inseparable bond over marijuana proved ineffective.

Toward the end of the trial, Hernandez’s lawyers also admitted that their client was at the scene of the shooting of Lloyd, but tried to argue that he was not the shooter. Suffice it to say, after extensive deliberations, that the jury didn’t buy it.

Here’s video of the verdict being read:

For what it’s worth, Hernandez is going to be doing his time very close to where the Patriots play. Likely he’ll be able to hear some foghorn on gamedays.
