This True American Hero Was Arrested For Shooting Fireworks Because ‘This Is America’

The 4th of July may have been two days ago, but it’s not too late to honor a real American patriot; a man who would not let silly things likes “laws” and “direct orders from police” stand in the way of letting him exert his God given right to celebrate the freedom of our great nation in the way he saw fit.

Unfortunately, Des Moines law enforcement did not see things that way when they were called to the residence of 22-year-old Quinnlan R. O’Meara around 4 a.m. on Sunday, July 3. O’Meara was allegedly getting his festivities on early by setting off some fireworks. The officers informed O’Meara that he would be arrested if he continued to set off fireworks (which are illegal in the state of Iowa), and confiscated what he had left.

Shortly after the officers left, they were called back and encountered O’Meara walking out of his apartment holding a roman candle in one hand and a lighter in the other, which he had allegedly planned to light off from his front door.

It was at that point O’Meara was taken into custody, but not before uttering some harsh truths to Des Moines’ finest.

O’Meara also told officers that when he got out of jail he was going to light another firework “with a blunt in his mouth because this is America.”

Police say when they asked O’Meara to take a preliminary breathalyzer test, he responded “that he would take a preliminary go [expletive] yourself test.”

The only way those two sentences could be more perfect is if the “Star-Spangled Banner” was playing when he uttered them. Yet, O’Meara was still charged with using fireworks, public intoxication, and disorderly conduct.
