Most of us have been in the unpleasant position of having a dead cell phone battery while being out and about. Once realizing this, the dreaded feeling of needing to find a way to charge the phone soon follows. Most reasonable folks will try a restaurant, store, or out-of-the-way location to find an appropriate power source to charge-up. One theatergoer at a recent Broadway performance, though, decided to use the first outlet they could find, which just so happened to be on the stage.

It all went down at the Booth Theatre in New York City, as the show Hand to God was just getting underway. A male audience member was seen walking onto the stage and plugging in his cell phone. The outlet he was trying to use, though, ended up being a prop on the set.

According to a Facebook post from audience member Chris York, “The crew had to stop the precook music, remove the cellphone, and make an announcement as to why you can’t do that.” York then went on to say, “Truly. I am a quiet and reserved person and I took great joy in loudly heckling the idiot when he returned to take his phone back.”

Following the performance, cast members Sarah Stiles and Marc Kudisch both shared their opinions on the incident via Twitter:

Pretty sure this guy will never leave the house with a low phone battery again.
