Arnold Schwarzenegger does not mince words when it comes to those who don’t care about the future of our planet. In a Facebook blog post written earlier this month (which is just now starting to get picked up on), the former Governor of California makes some excellent points about why we — not just as a country, but as a world — should be investing in renewable energy. Schwarzenegger outlines his argument in the form of three questions, the first being that whether or not you believe in climate change, how can you deny that millions of people die every year from pollution?

In the second, he asks whether or not one really believes that quickly depleting fossil fuels really are the future of energy, pointing out that not adapting is like being the last investor in Blockbuster as Netflix was emerging. In the third, he gets a little abstract to make his point:

There are two doors. Behind Door Number One is a completely sealed room, with a regular, gasoline-fueled car. Behind Door Number Two is an identical, completely sealed room, with an electric car. Both engines are running full blast.

I want you to pick a door to open, and enter the room and shut the door behind you. You have to stay in the room you choose for one hour. You cannot turn off the engine. You do not get a gas mask.

I’m guessing you chose the Door Number Two, with the electric car, right? Door number one is a fatal choice – who would ever want to breathe those fumes?

Yet, for some reason, renewable energy and climate change has been mostly absent as a topic of conversation among the contenders of the 2016 presidential race. While we can pretty much expect this from the GOP, Forbes pointed out earlier this week that even the Democrats are ignoring the issue.

Mother Earth may not have the United States government getting her back, but hey — at least she’s got the Terminator? You could really do worse, I guess. You can read his entire entry here.
