Big SANT Ft. Tito Lopez & Big K.R.I.T. – “Fire Water II” (Prod. By David Banner)

Everything about this presentation has been cosmic.

As a sucker for album titles, The Great American Mattress Sale stuck out like Mitt Romney at a NAACP convention, only the exact opposite. Then come to find out SANT grabbed David Banner’s production and features from Tito Lopez and some guy who may be halfway decent at this rapping thing named Big K.R.I.T. for “Fire Water II.” Yeah, a remake of the Crooked Lettaz Grey Skies 1999 classic.

SANT’s in an interesting position. As a known MC, but one still attempting to win over listeners one verse at a time, his aggression and defiance on “Fire” is more of a public service announcement than it is a verse. Every lyric, the next more trumpeting than the previous makes it easy to visualize him spilling his guts in the booth to the point he damn-near passes out or tearing a hole through the paper he scribes his thoughts on. And that’s dope as hell. Not that he may or may not have passed out afterwards, but just the appreciation from knowing he’s as excited about making music as I am to hear it.

The end result is five minutes of rapping that settles on the stomach like grandma’s peach cobbler at Thanksgiving. The only difference is falling asleep afterwards isn’t an option. You’ll be too concerned with running “FW2” back for the fifth time.

TGAMS drops October 22.
