The Gene Kelly Of Birds Has A Fancy Tap-Dance To Impress A Mate

We all do weird things to impress a potential mate, but animal mating behavior feels a lot less weird to watch. Take birds like the blue-capped cordon bleu. National Geographic posted a video that showed a behavior never seen before in birds because it’s so fast it can’t be seen with the naked eye. But shot on high-speed video then slowed down, scientists noticed that the male bird was doing a really fast tap dance to show off for a female. The females do a little dance, too, so imagine what cute, rapid-fire little bird versions of Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire they probably are in the avian community.
