The Black Keys – and feel free to dispute this claim in the comments – are the best at what they do: making rock-n-roll in its truest, most classical form. Part of that stems from the group’s consistency – the duo released seven albums between 2002 and 2011, none of which can be considered bad, some of which can be considered great (classic, even).

That consistency can serve as a double-edged sword, though: aside from a false start back in 2012, we haven’t heard much of anything from the Keys. If this were a band like Modest Mouse or Vampire Weekend, a three-year lull wouldn’t just be forgiven, it’d be expected. BUT THE BLACK KEYS DON’T TAKE TIME OFF. THEY’RE BLUE COLLAR AND THEY WORK HARD AND WE LOVE THEM FOR IT.

So, after back-to-back summers without a grungy new Keys song dominating the airwaves, enjoy “Fever,” priming you for Turn Blue – due for a May 13 release – setting you up for a rock-and-roll summer. Don’t you want a rock-and-roll summer?
