Busy Philipps Claims To Have Been ‘Almost Murdered’ By A Creepy Uber Driver

In what is sure to be yet another story in a string of bad press for the ride sharing service, actress Busy Philipps recalled an unsettling incident early Sunday morning that she and her husband, screenwriter Marc Silverstein experienced at the hands of an Uber driver. In a series of now-deleted Instagram videos, Philipps said that she and Silverstein had called for the ride after leaving a Los Angeles restaurant, and had definitely specified a single Uber and not a shared ride.

However, once they got in the vehicle, an SUV with three rows of seats, Philipps immediately felt as if something was off.

“I say [to Marc], ‘What’s going on, are we about to get murdered?’ Philipps recalled. “A man that we didn’t know existed in the back seat pops up…and he was like, ‘I promise that’s not going to happen.’ It was very creepy the way he chose to say it, even though he wasn’t going to murder us, he made it seem like he might.”

“I started screaming, ‘I’m not going to be killed today! I will not f–king be killed today!’…’No! You cannot kill us! F–k no!'” Phillips continued.

Phillips and Silverstein immediately jumped out of the car and called for a Lyft, and now the Freaks and Geek actress says she’s “done with Uber.” The couple did not contact police because they didn’t know what could really be done since there’s no laws against being creepy and “would have taken them easily an hour to get there,” although they did provide feedback to Uber. It is, in fact, a violation of the company’s terms of service to have unauthorized riders in a vehicle. Uber now claims to be investigating the incident.
