Chargers-Raiders Live Blog — Second Half

The Raiders had a very Raiders first half, with indefensible, crippling penalties that lead to their downfall. Up until a few minutes left in the half, it was about to be a story of poor red zone offense, but then Marmalard had his float alight in the hands of Malcom Floyd in the end zone to give the Chargers a touchdown lead. The Raiders found surprising offensive competence in the final two minutes, but usual red zone stalling and cowardice made Oakland settle for a field goal even though Berman was dripping spittle all over Dennis Allen by yelling for him to try to go for it on 4th and 1 inside the 3 with 7 seconds left.

As usual when he’s healthy, Darren McFadden comprises a disproportionate share of the offensive production. The Raiders should enjoy that for the month he stays healthy. Rivers connected with Robert Meachem on a trademark floatbomb. So expect the Chargers to continue to put together faltering drives that are extended with Raiders jumping offsides two seconds before the ball is snapped.
