‘Rise of the Apes’ Director To Blast Charlize Theron Into Space

Variety reports talent agency William Morris Endeavor is shopping around a sci-fi action project called Agent 13 with Charlize Theron and director Rupert Wyatt already attached. They say Sony, Warner, Paramount, Universal, and Fox are pursuing the project, which was written by T.S. Nowlin, who recently sold a Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday script titled Wild Guns.

As of yet, no details about the plot, or even a logline, have been released.

There is no telling if this has ties to other Agent 13s in pop culture. There’s the Marvel comics character as well as another from a series of spy fiction novels, but judging by the sci-fi aspect here I’d bet this is wholly independent. [TheFilmStage]

Maybe they’ll come up with a better title, because Agent 13 is woefully generic and reminds me of Patrice O’Neal’s bit about bad sci fi movies always having on-the-nose titles. We just hope Agent 13 ends up being that prequel to Thelma and Louise Charlize Theron has been talking about, but in space.
