Chip Kelly Again Headed To NFL, This Time To The Eagles

It was just yesterday that it was reported that Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley accepted the Eagles head coaching job, but can feel free to disregard that because after spurning the Browns and the Eagles to return to his job at Oregon, Chip Kelly has reversed course yet again and has agreed to become Philadelphia’s next coach. It’s okay. Jay Glazer confirmed it, so we know it holds up.

It caps a whirlwind two weeks of indecision and teasing from Kelly, not to mention a lot of reporters being wrong about scoops. Here’s a brief recap:

Jan. 4: Kelly is reportedly hired by the Browns after meeting with the team in Arizona following Oregon’s Fiesta Bowl victory.

Jan. 5: Kelly interviews with the Eagles, assures them body mass index is all he has in common with Andy Reid. Again reported to be hired by an NFL team.

Jan. 6: Kelly announces that he is returning to coach at Oregon, presumably to shower in Phil Knight’s riches.

Jan. 16: Phil Knight’s riches don’t include enough wheelbarrows full of steak. Kelly changes mind again and is named Eagles coach.

Jan. 20 (or thereabouts): Kelly elects to undergo sex change operation, spurns NFL again, decides to coach women’s softball team. Appearance is largely unchanged.
