D. Wade Has A Friend In Chris Bosh

As much as a MVP caliber player Dwyane Wade proves himself to be night in and night out, the Miami Heat have been pretty much worthless since they won a championship in 2006 and have been lacking a decent big man since Shaquille O’Neal should have called it quits that year as well. Plus, Miami is Miami and D. Wade has grown accustomed to the extravagance of the weather, palm trees and Gabrielle Unions.

Chris Bosh on the other hand, as increased his stock as one of the league’s premier posts and, like Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady have revealed before him, giving 110% to the Toronto Raptors is like trying to reach the remote control on a treadmill. Pat Riley says they’re trying to build a dynasty down in South Beach. Well, he may be on to something by acquiring Bosh.

The duo announced their decision Wednesday on live TV, the first major free agents to make their intentions known. “I’m joining Mr. Wade in Miami,” Bosh said during a live interview on ESPN.

Bosh and Wade could formally become teammates as soon as Thursday, when the NBA moratorium on signing contracts expires. Under NBA rules, the Heat cannot confirm any contracts until 12:01 a.m. Thursday, although players are allowed to agree to deals before the signing window opens. Miami came into the free-agent period with around $44 million of cap space, not including $16 million or so earmarked for Wade, thanks to years of avoiding just about any deal where money would have been committed for the 2010-11 season. D. Wade has T-Mobile money to fall back on so even if he doesn’t get the maximum on his contract, the promise of getting another ring could soften the blow of missing out on a couple milli. Should they land LeBron consider it game over but for now, the game is on in MIA.

Ahhh…the memories that once were. Let bygones be bygones as the Heat start anew.
