Comcast Cashed This Elderly Woman’s Rent Check And Refused To Refund It

Comcast has developed a reputation for absolutely awful customer service. Their customer service representatives have changed customer names to “A**hole Brown,” gotten customers fired from their jobs, and kept customers on hold for over 3 hours, just in time for their offices to close. Comcast is in trouble yet again for reportedly cashing a 79-year-old woman’s rent check and then refusing to refund it.

Francis Wilson of Albuquerque, New Mexico accidentally mailed Comcast her $235 rent check in addition to her monthly Comcast payment for $20.66. The check was made out to La Resolana, the seniors community where she lives, but instead of returning the check, Comcast cashed it. Wilson eventually discovered her mistake, but Comcast refused to return the check or refund her money. Instead, they offered to credit the amount to her account.

Comcast spokeswoman Cindy Parsons stated that this has happened before because their system is automated, but she claims that Comcast tried to fix their mistake:

“We reached out to the customer immediately — and apologize — and our big focus was to correct the situation as soon as possible,” Parsons said.

Wilson did not receive a refund, however, until local news station KRQE got involved and called Comcast. Not only did Comcast refund her $235 rent in cash, they also sent her a check for $235 and credited her account for $235.

Automated or not, “La Resolana” bears absolutely no resemblance to “Comcast.” The check didn’t belong to them, and the fact that they were able to cash it regardless is yet another reason to stay far, far away from Comcast.
