Comic-Con 2013: Fox Rolls Out ‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’

Fox knows its audience: Their Comic-Con panel was pretty much all about the X-Men, from The Wolverine to X-Men: Days Of Future Past. So what did Fox reveal?

First, Days of Future Past. Fox rolled out footage showing Wolverine going back in time to “bring hope” to James McAvoy-Xavier. And also stabbings for other people! Because Wolverine also brings stabbings! They also brought out the whole cast. Yes, the whole cast, from Dinklage to Jennifer Lawrence to Daniel Cudmore to Anna Paquin. Yep, Rogue’s back, not that they were pretending otherwise, but it’s nice to have it confirmed. Bishop, played by Omar Sy, is also confirmed. And the footage seems to confirm that it’s pretty much the story in the comics in the broad strokes.

Also, Ian McKellen hit on Michael Fassbender. Because who wouldn’t?

Beyond that…

The Wolverine panel had James Mangold putting Hugh Jackman in the same company as Clint Eastwood and Sean Connery in terms of iconic roles. Which, you know, don’t undersell it or anything. But the footage shown was so good they were forced to run it twice, which is a good sign. Also a good sign is that Jackman referred directly to the classic Miller/Claremont story, and that he personally thanked Len Wein by bringing him up on stage.

In news I’m actually pretty excited for, Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes is apparently amazing. Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes was, terrible title aside, actually a great movie, and not just because the ape action was great: There was some great character drama in the movie. And apparently the action is good, but we’ll see.

Deadpool is still on the table, but apparently nothing is in the works right now on Bryan Singer’s end. He’s also not in X-Men: Days Of Future Past.

And that’s it, for now. As footage hits YouTube, we’ll update.
