Corey Taylor is still riding high on his message to Kanye West after the hip-hop star and Kardashian lover claimed to be the “greatest living rock star” at Glastonbury. It apparently caused quite a stir, and some folks had some heated comments aimed at the Slipknot frontman (and Stone Sour), something that gave him quite a bit of glee, according to Billboard:

“It’s so funny, man; It was like one little comment and now everybody’s talking about it and it’s just getting funnier and funnier,” says Taylor, who’s currently on a book tour doing both signings and spoken word/music performances. “The first day everybody was going, ‘Well, y’know, (West) has more Grammys than Slipknot has albums. I’m like, ‘Yeah, you just made my point for me. Getting a Grammy is like getting a Teen Choice Award. Figure it out.’ And then the big thing online is these weird little armchair academics who are like, ‘Well, if you really break it down, sorry Corey, but Kanye really is the greatest living rock star.’ And I’m like, ‘You an stop right there because you just destroyed your credibility. If you’re gonna tell me (that) with Keith Richards still alive, with David Bowie still alive, with Paul McCartney still alive that there’s even a comparison to Kanye West, then you just need to shut up and never try to say anything smart ever again.”

Sounds like the obvious next step is to have West meet Taylor and then force them both to hug it out. It’s the only way to put an end to this.

Elsewhere, Taylor is giving his thoughts on the Confederate flag debate that has been raging in recent weeks. It’s something that means a whole lot more than whatever Kanye West let flow out of his mouth on stage:

“I don’t get it. It’s 2015. It’s not like it’s f–king 1901. If you can’t figure out why it’s wrong to put a Confederate flag in front of a place where you’re supposed to have f–king equal justice, then you need to go back to f–king sleep, man, because you’re never gonna figure it out.”

It’s such an odd state of affairs when the frontman of a band known for wearing Halloween masks on stage is making both the silliest and most sensible arguments at the same time in history. It’s quite world we live in.
