Damon Lindelof Rewriting Alien

Entertainment Editor

Damon Lindelof, co-creator of Lost, is now signed on to rewrite the Alien prequel for 20th Century Fox, Deadline is reporting.  Fox is still trying to sign Ridley Scott to direct.  However, the final script may be filmed not as an Alien prequel, but as a new movie altogether, perhaps about a polar bear on a magical island? *fingers crossed*

Studio insiders said that while Lindelof indeed met with Scott and the studio for that rewrite job, the exchange of ideas between them sparked a take that could well turn out to be a free-standing science fiction film. The studio will decide when Lindelof turns it in. [Deadline]

Lindelhof is already co-writing Cowboys and Aliens and the Star Trek sequel with Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, so he’s keeping himself busy post-Lost.  We are also keeping ourselves busy post-Lost.  Why, only yesterday we entered numbers into an Apple-II Plus system running an Apple-III monitor, just to keep ourselves busy, you know. Not to prevent the website from imploding every 108 minutes or anything.  That would be ridiculous.
