Politics and alliances came between DJ Premier and Notorious B.I.G.’s collaborative abilities and consequentially, “Kick In The Door,” “10 Crack Commandments” and “Unbelievable” were all that came about on wax between the two. One would imagine that if B.I.G.’s life didn’t meet a premature end, eventually the two could’ve hashed things out and put together more music.
But since the ‘what-ifs’ can never come to fruition here, DJ Finesse put together B.I.G. Over Premier, a collection of his acapellas over some of the best Premo instrumentals. You’ll be challenged just to get past the intro mash-up of “Flava In Ya Ear” x “I Gave You Power.” It’s the closest thing we’ll have to the real deal, ’90s enthusiasts, so be sure to enjoy this rare treat.
