Cam’ron – Ghetto Heaven Vol. 1 Mixtape

Who knows what Cam’s Ghetto Heaven ultimately leads to? Perhaps an album or perhaps it’s nothing more than a collection of records he wanted to get off his hands. Either way, Killa appears to have dropped a quality tape – something that didn’t seem reasonable only weeks ago.

As TSS’ resident Cam’ron stan, to be honest, the tape could’ve been better served being chopped down to 13 or 14 songs. There are more than a fair share of entertaining moments throughout however. King Jaffe Joe sounds motivated over many of the sample-driven beats, a staple during the peak of his popularity during the early-to-mid 2000’s (“Think About It,” “Come & Talk To Me” and “Go Outside”). Killa doesn’t reinvent the wheel or the microphone on Ghetto Heaven either, yet it wasn’t expected of him in the first place. And honestly, sometimes simply a “good” project is more than acceptable.

Put GH on your phone, workout to it, do whatever. It’s new Cam, new enjoyable Cam. Between this and MNIMN, there’s a solid chance the next two weeks of my life could be dedicated to cooking chickens in my kitchen and filming random Martin episodes on Vine with a lady friend. And I’m perfectly fine with that.

Now, on to more pressing issues. Who exactly do the people of America need to contact to ensure Cam and Cousin Bang get their own television show? I can’t quite explain why, but a comedy with Larry David and those two would be nothing short of brilliant.
