Oh, The Irony: Drake Wants Royalties For “YOLO”

Instagram hasn’t seemed as crackin’ lately following their 360 on terms and another 360 back, but Drake has still been busy straight flexin’ on the social network. Besides his new in-home, KOD-ready stripper pole, he’s been doing some shopping and snapping some flicks of hats and shirts that prominently feature “YOLO,” the now obnoxious phrase that he popularized with his song “The Motto.” Let’s be honest, though. You wouldn’t have been pleased to rip open a package and see a YOLO snapback in there even if the gift is from Drizzy himself.

Drake included the messages that “Walgreens….you gotta either chill or cut the cheque” and “Macy’s…same goes for you.” YMCMB’s notorious for not paying what’s due to other parties (how else do Baby and Slim fund their five star lifestyle?) so naturally, the irony of this situation regarding royalties shouldn’t be lost.

At this time, it does not appear that Drake has requested a check from Yolo County in California or that he has any official trademark or copyright on the acronym.

Should Drizzy be entitled to a cut of their sales?
