Waka Flocka was never billed as the second coming of Scarface. Yet, something weird happened. His debut, Flockaveli, brought forth an obese amount of singles and an overall cohesiveness thus catapulting it as one of the year’s better projects. By 2012’s end, Future will be able to reflect the same sentiment in regards to his debut, Pluto.
The fact of the matter is this. Future’s made arguably my favorite weekend album of the year.* From “Tony Montana,” to “Magic,” to “Same Damn Time,” to “Turn On The Lights” – the latter of which became the number one rap song in the country, buddy’s had one hell of a campaign and more than likely been one of the most requested and played artists by DJ’s all year.
Keeping the momentum moving forward, Kelly Rowland gives a new look to what’s perceived as the next single, “Neva End.” Chances are this Mike WiLL Made It-produced future club smash will land on stations nationwide in the coming weeks. If the previous four are any indication, this could very well be a winter staple while carrying Future into 2013. Unless, of course, he decides to culminate his year with one last single – “You Deserve It.”
Doing so just seems appropriate.
* – Not saying it doesn’t get play during the week, but Friday night to Sunday night, Pluto just makes more sense. If that makes sense.
