A few drives in, it looks like we were in for an all-time derp-off. Eli Manning opened the game with an interception a few plays in, giving the Bears a prime opportunity to get on the scoreboard first. It’s one they didn’t take advantage of, however, as they surrendered the ball on downs inside the five. On a 4th and 2, a pass went off Brandon Marshall’s fingertips.

Not to be denied the chance to give the Bears the first score of the game, Eli was intercepted by Tim Jennings, who took it back 48 yards for the game’s opening score. Both of his interceptions were on throws intended for Rueben Randle.

From there, a shocking wave of competence washed over the game. Brandon Jacobs somehow became dominant on the following drive, leading New York down the field for a tying score.

Brandon Marshall made sure to make everyone aware of mental health issues with two first half touchdowns. On the latter he looked to have been guilty of pushing off in the end zone, but that’s neither here nor there, as it didn’t draw a flag and the Bears had the lead again.

Eli started to regain some composure. At one point, he completed seven passes in a row. On that seventh straight completion, he found Randle for a touchdown to knot it at 14. The Bears did the rest of the scoring since and have a 10-point lead going into half.
