A 12-Year-Old Girl Has An Ant Colony Living In Her Head And Doctors Are Powerless To Do Anything

How is your day going so far? Pretty lousy, I bet, right? Traffic sucked on your way into work? Of course. You were running late and didn’t have time to stop for coffee? That certainly won’t help matters. You had urgent messages waiting for you before you even had time to take off your coat? Sounds like hell.

Then again, it may be time to suck it up, because short of some sort of devastating injury or death, nothing you deal with today will be as bad as what a 12-year-old girl in India has been dealing with on a daily basis since last summer.

Doctors have pulled hundreds of big ants — dead and alive — from Shreya Darji’s ears since the girl from Deesa, Gujarat, complained of ear pain last August.

They’ve tried filling her ears with antiseptic to drown the things and have repeatedly tried to find the queen ant with laparoscopic cameras. The family has even gone to witch doctors, but the ants keep reproducing.

Doctors estimate that hundreds of ants continue to live inside her head, with roughly a dozen of them emerging from her ear on a daily basis.

“The big ants must be biting her, but the girl did not feel pain inside her ears,” said Dr. Jawahar Talsania to the Times of India.

You don’t feel so bad about that “no coffee” thing anymore, do you?
