A Massive Leak Reveals ‘God Of War 4’ And Kratos Has A New Set Of Gods To Murder

According to a massive data leak perpetrated by NerdLeaks, God of War 4 is reportedly deep into development, and it looks like Kratos is back, bearded and fighting Norse gods. The NerdLeaks.com site, as well as its Twitter account is now down, seemingly after Sony incurred their wrath upon whomever illegally dug up the never-before-seen info, but the damage has been done. Artwork and images from the game are out, and now developer Sony Santa Monica won’t have a big reveal (at E3?) under their control.

Gaming insider Shinobi602 echoed the leaks with cryptic Manowar lyrics in a pair of tweets.

Those lyrics are to a song titled Gods of War, which will make even the most jaded gamer want to mash the square button and bang their head in the quicktime event called life.

The art assets leaked, which Polygon has confirmed with Sony to be real, look like they came from an early stage of development, but still show a thematic shift away from the ancient Greek mythology setting that was at the center of the first 5 God of War games.

Now, whether this Kratos is the same Kratos from the original GoW series isn’t known. This very well could be a series reboot. I’m not sure how Kratos could kill all of the Greek gods then shift over to the Norse gods without ditching the previous narrative and going forward with a new one. It’s common knowledge that creator David Jaffe suggested Kratos could move on to the Norse gods years ago, but this information just whets the appetites of fans of the series for more answers.

Is this a new trilogy, or will Kratos eventually move on from Odin and Thor to battle Shiva of the Hindu gods and so on until he makes his way to Christianity and then, I dunno, Michael Jordan and Walter Payton?
