A week ahead of release, those feisty scamps over at NeoGAF got their hands on Grand Theft Auto V‘s most detailed map yet. And it’s pretty informative! Let’s break down what we can see.
Here’s the full map, in smaller scale:
First, I don’t recommend trying to zoom in on the full map; the scan gets blurry in the top half, although you can make out major features. Also, there’s no legend, so some of these we have to vaguely guess at. That said, there are some points of interest:
- Guesses as to the legend: Blue is for side activites, purple for side missions or profitable enterprises, green for shops, orange for emergency services/people who may want to kill you, and pink for those sexual situations we’ve heard so much about.
- One of the pink symbols is a camera. Hoo boy, if you make porno in this game, Rockstar’s gonna get some letters.
- Apparently you will be using a parachute. A lot. There are five locations you can parachute from in Los Santos alone and it’s apparently one of the most common activities on the map.
- It looks like there’s a mass transit system in the game that likely doubles as a fast-travel system. We wonder if Trevor is allowed on it.
- There are also a lot of binocular symbols: One assumes this is some sort of “casing the joint” type mission. Or maybe you’re just a perv.
- Apparently, mountain climbing will be some sort of activity in the game; every major mountain has a purple symbol. Maybe we can get a reward for looking at DAT SHED.
- There’s a lot this map probably isn’t telling us. Notice there’s literally nothing on the water, but we know diving is important in this game.
