Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black) is planning to direct Dinosaurs Versus Aliens based on a comic by Grant Morrison and Mukesh Singh which hasn’t been published yet. I usually give the side eye to projects greenlit based on a comic that isn’t even finished, but this one has Grant Morrison and dinosaurs. Add some jet packs and I’ll pre-order tickets today.
Also, Grant Morrison is writing the screenplay, and offered this update:
“I’ve just finished the second draft of the Dinosaurs vs Aliens movie. It’s what it kind of says on the tin. What would happen if aliens arrived when dinosaurs were on earth? Barry [Sonnenfeld] had said he wanted a comic book version of the story – and the whole thing built towards the film.” [DailyRecord]
The synopsis is that aliens invade Earth during the age of the dinosaurs, and those dinos turned out to be much smarter than they looked. Especially the T-Rex; he’d have to be much smarter than he looks to outsmart aliens. Have you ever seen a T-Rex try to use toilet paper? Ridiculous.
