Hey, they’re still letting M. Night Shyamalan make movies! Big-budget Will Smith movies no less. After Earth stars Will and Jaden Smith as a father and son who get stranded on…Earth. Say whaaat? Yeah, apparently in the future everything on the planet “evolves to kill humans” so we jet off to the cosmos, leaving Earth behind us as just another quarantined planet.
Neat premise. Not sure if the movie’s going to be any good. The trailer is just a series of mostly unrelated brief images. Those images are pretty, but then nobody’s ever questioned M. Night Shyamalan’s ability to capture the occasional beautiful image. Just saying, Will Smith’s dialogue seems awfully stilted. Also, what’s with that accent he’s affecting?
