Highlander Remake: There Can Only Be Two?!

Justin Lin used to be the great Asian hope, with “Better Luck Tomorrow”. Now he turns out crap like “Fast Five” (which made nearly $100 million two weekends ago) and is helping ruin beloved franchises like “Terminator”; he’s on deck to direct the fifth one, which is so anticipated and awaited that this was literally the first time I heard he was directing it.

Anyway, Lin is also supposedly working on the “Highlander” remake, speaking of franchises that really should have been mercy-killed after the first sequel. We’d heard this was as dead as the guy who came in second for the Quickening, but apparently it’s still on track. Says Lin:

“I’ve been working with [Iron Man writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway] on the script. That’s one where Summit has been really good [about letting it develop], and for me, it’s about making sure that we can take it to the place where I feel comfortable and great about making it. I feel like I have a very good studio and team and we’re working on it.”

You know Summit Pictures for inflicting the Twilight movies on us, and absolutely nothing else (OK, “Source Code” wasn’t bad).

When will this remake come out to yawns and the tears of Russell Mulcahy? Lin’s not sure, which means we might yet be spared this movie and I don’t have to make any more puns. And really that’s better for all of us.
